Within the Functional Genomics Unit, double‑strand synthesis plays a pivotal role in RNA interference (RNAi), a natural cellular process that regulates gene expression. RNAi relies on the formation of double‑stranded RNA molecules, which trigger the silencing of specific genes by guiding the cell’s machinery to degrade or block the corresponding messenger RNA (mRNA).
At AVecGen, double‑strand synthesis is harnessed to:
•     Validate gene function by selectively silencing candidate genes.
•     Characterize genetic variants linked to vector biology and disease transmission.
•     Enable precision research in functional genomics, providing insights into pathways that can be targeted for vector control and therapeutic innovation.
